Privacy Policy
The short version: what you log about your drinking never leaves your phone. Our servers store only your account, your progress numbers, and your social activity in the app. There are no ads, no analytics, and no third-party tracking, and we never sell or share your data. You can delete your account and all server data at any time.
What stays on your device
The content of your drink log — what you drank, how much, and any notes — is stored only on your device. It is never transmitted to our servers, and our servers have no place to store it. This is a design constraint of the app, not just a policy choice.
- Your local data is included in your device's standard iOS backup, under Apple's backup terms.
- When you export your records (JSON backup or printable summary), the file is created on your device and shared through the iOS share sheet. It does not pass through our servers. Files you export are in your own care.
- "Clear history" in Settings deletes your local drink records and is a purely on-device action.
What we store on our servers
Amber Days uses Supabase as its backend, hosted in Sydney, Australia. The server stores only what is needed to run your account and the app's social features:
- Account: your Apple account identifier from Sign in with Apple, your chosen nickname, your friend code, and your timezone. Apple's "Hide My Email" is fully supported — no feature in Amber Days ever requires your real email address.
- Progress: your gem balance and history, streak, freeze status, weekly progress, and reward items you've collected.
- Check-in events: a record that you checked in on a given date, with your timezone. This is a date only — it contains nothing about what you logged.
- Social activity: your friend connections, challenges, and gem-collecting interactions with friends.
What we don't do
- No advertising and no ad networks.
- No analytics or tracking SDKs of any kind.
- No selling, renting, or sharing of your data with third parties.
- No use of your data for anything other than providing the app's own features.
Service providers
Two companies process data on our behalf, strictly to make the app work:
- Supabase hosts our backend database (Sydney, Australia region).
- Apple provides Sign in with Apple and, during beta, TestFlight distribution.
Neither receives your drink log content — it never leaves your device.
Deleting your data
You can delete your account at any time from Settings. Deletion requires a fresh Sign in with Apple confirmation, then permanently removes your account and all server-side data — profile, gems, streak, check-in events, friendships, and challenges — and revokes the app's connection to your Apple ID. This cannot be undone.
Your local drink records remain on your device and in your control. You can remove them with "Clear history" or by deleting the app.
Data retention
Server data is kept for as long as your account exists and is deleted when you delete your account. We keep no copies for other purposes.
Security
All communication between the app and our servers uses encrypted connections (HTTPS). Server data is protected by per-user access rules, so your data is readable only by your own signed-in account.
Your rights
You can access your data in the app, export your local records at any time, and delete your account and server data yourself as described above. If you have any question or request about your data — including under the Australian Privacy Principles, the GDPR, or similar laws — contact us at the address below and we'll respond promptly.
Age
Amber Days involves alcohol-related content and is intended for adults of legal drinking age. It is not directed at children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the effective date above. Material changes will be noted in the app.
